Welcome to the May edition of the NSW ATS newsletter.

Several ATS members have been recognised for their innovative products at the Australian Anthill Smart 100 Awards, with Fermican walking away with the award for the most innovative product in Australia for their non-invasive breast cancer detection test. Two other ATS members, Atlassian and Integeo, recieved 2009 iAwards from the Australian Information Industry Awards (AIIA). See below in our Latest News section for the full story.

CeBIT 2009

The NSW Department of State and Regional Development (DSRD) and the ATS have announced the names of the 18 innovative NSW small and medium enterprises exhibiting on the DSRD stand at CeBIT this year.

CeBIT Australia 2009 will be held at the Sydney Convention Centre from May 12-14 with DSRD again a key supporter. Now in its eighth year, Australia's largest information and communications technology (ICT) event will exhibit the entire spectrum of ICT products and services to the marketplace.

AIIA iAwards

Two ATS members, Integeo Pty Ltd and Atlassian Pty Ltd,  have received 2009 iAwards from the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA). AIIA’s annual iAwards is the industry’s leading ICT awards program, recognising innovation excellence in Australian ICT across a range of sectors including government, security, education, finance and media.

Australian Anthill Smart 100 Awards

The breast cancer detection test developed by ATS member Fermiscan Ltd was named the most innovative product in Australia at the inaugural Australian Anthill Smart 100 Awards held recently in Melbourne.

Better Health & Wellness Solutions

ATS member Better Health & Wellness Solutions Pty Ltd (BHW) has formed a joint venture with Australian agribusiness company the Manildra Group. Manildra Group will manufacture and distribute BHW’s protein-based sweetener, SweeTose under license for the food and beverage industry.

CALUMO Group

ATS member CALUMO Group and the North American distributor for CALUMO, Orange Peel Corporation, have announced a strategic alliance based on the joint release of their Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting (BFR) application. The application is for Microsoft Dynamics users for business performance management (BPM).

Avalias

ATS member Avalias Pty Ltd has been selected by the NSW State Emergency Service to support a wide range of its training and exercise initiatives to assist with preparation for critical incidents. The company has previously received ATS support through the ATS Support Grant for export development.

ATS member IPscape Pty Ltd has developed hosted call centre and customer contact solutions using the latest voice and data technologies. Brisbane-based Home Based Call Centre (HBCC) has implemented IPscape's software-as-a-service call centre solution, thereby simplifying operations, improving agent productivity and enabling cost-effective scalability.

The Web Content Management (WCM) software marketed by ATS member Netcat.Biz Pty Ltd has been selected as a specialist WCM provider solution on the NSW Government Information and Asset Management Systems (IAMS) Panel Contract 2602.

ConnXion

ATS Alumni member ConnXion Ltd has announced that it has conditionally agreed for FCP Camino Management Pty Ltd to acquire between 30.3% to 42.0% in the company for $3million to $5 million, through an issue of 60 to 100 million new ConnXion shares. FCP Camino Management is an Australian-based investment company.

ATS Alumni member and enterprise content management specialist Elcom Technology Pty Ltd, has won a contract with Austrade, the Australian Government’s trade and investment development agency, to add new multimedia training, information and social media content to its website, www.austrade.gov.au .

ATS Alumni member and Australian health systems developer IBA Health, recently successfully completed a $123.6 million capital raising to allow it to take advantage of growth opportunities.

CathRx

ATS Alumni member and medical device company CathRx Pty Ltd has unveiled a new manufacturing facility that will enable it to export cardiac catheters to the rest of the world. The NSW Minister for Science and Medical Research, Jodi McKay, formally opened the state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar global manufacturing facility in Homebush Bay.

NEW MEMBERS
Australian Industrial Marketing Services Pty Ltd

The "imaQcut vertical CNC plasma cutting machine" technology, developed by Kurnell-based Australian Industrial Marketing Services Pty Ltd, has been accepted for ATS membership. The imaQcut technology is a CNC plasma cutting machine that cuts on a near vertical plane rather than the traditional horizontal plane. The result is that imaQcut has a machine footprint around one sixth of a conventional machine footing. Besides the space saving, the technology has other advantages such as improved safety, better fume and dust collection, and lower operating costs.

Angusta Systems Pty Ltd

The "Consensio cash logistics management" technology, developed by Australian Technology Park-based Angusta Systems Pty Ltd, has been accepted for membership. The Consensio technology is a business intelligence application for the management of cash inventory and circulation within large networks of ATMs, bank branches, depot vaults and retail stores. The software focuses on minimising the costs associated with operating a network of cash distribution points, enabling better management of cash distribution systems.
