The ATS and the NSW Department of State and Regional Development (DSRD) have released two new directories profiling companies with innovative technology solutions in the Digital Media and Security sectors. An updated version of the Environmental sector directory has also been published.

| CeBIT Australia 2009 |

 |
 CeBIT Australia 2009 will be held at the Sydney Convention Centre from May 12-14 with DSRD again a key supporter. Now in its eighth year, Australia's largest information and communications technology (ICT) event will exhibit the entire spectrum of ICT products and services to the marketplace.
DSRD will be showcasing eighteen innovative NSW small to medium enterprises on stand S40 in Hall 5.
CeBIT Australia will feature a program of five separate conferences across three days this year, designed to equip delegates with the information they need to compete, survive and thrive in the global digital economy.

ATS member BluGlass Ltd is commercialising the unique Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition technology that will reduce the cost of Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor wafers. These GaN wafers are a core component of high brightness light emitting diodes (LEDs) for which there is a US$4 billion market, which is expected to treble to US$12 billion by 2012. Applications for these LEDs include use in mobile appliances, signs/displays, automotive, traffic lights and illumination.

ATS Alumni member Flovac Systems Pty Ltd has developed vacuum sewer systems that are used where normal pumping systems are impractical, such as flat land or environmentally sensitive areas. These systems are used to transfer wastewater away from buildings to treatment plants.

Following its recent participation in a NSW trade mission, Polartechnics has secured distribution agreements valued at over $7 million in Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka for its TruScreen and CerviScreen products.

Accessible Publishing Systems (ReadHowYouWant) |

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Louis Braille’s birth, accessible publishing innovator and ATS Alumni member Accessible Publishing Systems has released its braille and DAISY bookshop at www.readhowyouwant.com/braille. Accessible Publishing Systems began in 2008 to publish, in partnership with international publishers, large print book formats ranging from 16 to 24 point fonts, and to make it easy for them to service the visually impaired. Blind readers now have access to thousands of titles in braille.

The "Maritime Automated Visual Recognition System" technology, developed by Crows Nest-based Operational Solutions Management Pty Ltd, has been accepted for ATS membership. The technology uses images from cameras and infrared devices to automatically identify ships by using visual algorithms to provide a visual signature of a ship which is then automatically checked against a database. Previous identification methods relied on comparison of images against hard copy photographs in reference books. The technology has clear application in the defence and security sectors, and has been taken up by the Australian Navy and is being tested by the US Navy.

The "Consensio cash logistics management" technology, developed by Australian Technology Park-based Angusta Systems Pty Ltd, has been accepted for membership. The Consensio technology is a business intelligence application for the management of cash inventory and circulation within large networks of ATMs, bank branches, depot vaults and retail stores. The software focuses on minimising the costs associated with operating a network of cash distribution points, enabling better management of cash distribution systems.
